Transactions of the Society Instituted at London, for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures, and Commerce; with the Premiums Offered in the Year 1794

T. Spilsbury and Son, 1794. Hardcover. Original 1794 printing in original binding! Backstrip is almost entirely missing, but the remnants of the paper title label are visible on spine. Grey and white cloth boards have some foxing. Uncut edges. The pages are incredibly clean and bright, almost NO foxing, just a spot or two here and there. Made of thick, sturdy paper. Printed with connected pages, original owner split the pages by hand, leaving the excess paper hanging off the edges. Illustrations and plates clean and intact. Could be re-bound by an expert. Bradel binding (bonnet binding), made to be re-bound anyway. Important contemporary printed notice of the success of Captain William Bligh's successful second expedition for bread-fruit in the Providence. Any printed material relating to the second breadfruit voyage is scarce, as Bligh had largely fallen out of favour with the London establishment by this time. An historical treasure waiting to be restored! Acceptable. Item #mon0001793541
