William Frere was an English lawyer, law-serjeant, academic, and Master of Downing College, Cambridge. Edward Moor was a British soldier for the East India Company, Indologist, Fellow of the Royal Society, and author of four books, most notably "The Hindu Pantheon." This book contains notes on Indian art, literature, and religion, with a large proportion of the book being devoted to Sanskrit-sounding names found around the world with the author theorizing a linguistic connection. Brown cloth cover with rebacked spine retaining the original gilt adornment, cover shows minro wear and rubbing, soiling. Pages with minor scattered foxing. Frontispiece and 7 engraved plates, 8vo.
